Meggan Young

Meggan grew up in a small rural town outside of St. Louis Missouri. She was out playing with the family horses as soon as she could walk. At the age of six she began taking riding lessons at an eventing stable next door and was soon doing hunter jumper shows. A few years later Meggan found herself competing in barrel racing and open fun shows. In her high school years, she became very active in both 4-H and FFA. She attended State for Horse and Livestock Judging in FFA and State Horse Judging for 4-H.  Her team won State Horse Bowl and State Hippology the same year and continued on to the National Horse Bowl.

After graduating high school, she wanted to have a horse business and soon enrolled at Hannibal LaGrange University in pursuit of a business degree but, April 19th, 2011 changed her life forever.  A tornado touched down right in front of her while traveling in a truck.  Once stopped a safe distance away, she watched in horror as the tornado tore apart a nearby farm. Once the danger had passed, she and several others rushed to the scene. Thankfully the family was safe, barely making it to the basement in time. The family’s animals, however, were not so lucky. A pregnant goat died in Meggan’s arms, afterwords her attention was drawn to the wounded horses. Despite her efforts, several of the family’s horses had to be euthanized. Never wanting to feel useless in that type of situation again, Meggan enrolled in Vet-Tech School at Hickey College.  On average, only 50% of the class graduates, yet Meggan made it and earned a Veterinary Technology Associates Degree. Soon after graduation she and Cale got married and began to pursue their dream of a horse business.
